EZE-LAP CSG 7/32 Chainsaw Sharpener with Super Accurate Guide

I was very doubtful.........
I cut alot of wood, and for the most part, I handfile my chain freehand. From time to time, either from hitting debris or just from poor technique in filing (in a hurry), I take my chain to get professionally sharpened (trued up). My saw was beginning to make curved cuts and I knew it was time. I saw this sharpener advertised and thought, I'm gonna try it. Worst can do is ruin my chain more and I still need a professional sharpening. But, the cost is same as a pro, so if it works.........

Here let me say, that one of the biggest challenges I have in handfiling, is getting the angle and level on the top plate. (For anyone that doesn't know, there are 3 edges that need sharpening when you file a tooth. The top plate, the gullet and the corner. Miss any one, and you're in trouble.)I really liked how the guide sits on top of the tooth and defines the top plate angle. Visual guide on the angle is OK, but once you get going with it, it's not hard to keep it consistent...

Fast sharpening
Does a good job and for those new to sharpening chains it has the angle on the side of the plate to get the proper set. Just a quick touch does the job without wearing out the grit.

Useless gadget
I had high hopes of saving on professional sharpening with this file. It seemed that the built-in guide and the premium sharpening surface would do the trick while I was wrecking my chainsaw on some old stumps and termite-infested roots on my property. This did not do the trick for me at all. The diamond coating was gone before even one chain was sharp and I was back to the service for major sharpening, and the manual file in between.
This was a waste of money, and I felt like I bought one of those too-good-to-be-true 'as seen on TV' things. Definitely not recommended.
